Various Sheet Metal Material Options

Common Material Sheet Metal Features
Steel Cold Rolled Steel Commonly used material for sheet metal fabrication. Low cost, no surface protection, and additional surface treatment is required.
Steel Hot Rolled Steel It is a low-end material that is easy to rust and has low cost, but is difficult to form. It is usually used in hinge products.
Steel Galvanized steel (Electrogalvanizing +Hot-Dip Galvanizing) Good mechanical properties, superior corrosion resistance, easier to form, more durable and more beautiful.
Steel Carbon Steel, Alloy Steel A36, Q235, Q245, Q355, Lower cost, durability, easier to cut, bend and form. Manufacturers can choose from low, medium or high carbon content sheet metal depending on the customer's needs.
Stainless Steel SUS201, 301, 304,316,316L,etc High strength, corrosion resistance, shiny and durable.
Aluminum 1060, 5051, 6061,2xxx, 3xxx Small density, light weight, good electrical and thermal conductivity, good corrosion resistance, low temperature resistance, etc.
Copper Copper C110, T1, T2, T3 Brass 260, H59, H62, H70 Purple copper has excellent electrical conductivity, but low strength, generally not used for structural parts. Brass has excellent machinability, but is prone to corrosion.
Titanium Titanium (Grade 2) Titanium 6AI-4V (Grade 5) It has excellent corrosion resistance, strength and light-to-weight ratio, and is widely used in aerospace, chemical industry and other fields.

As a professional sheet metal fabrication company, we will suggest suitable materials for your sheet metal project requirements. Of course, you can also specify the sheet metal materials you need. Low cost, high quality and fast delivery are the distinguishing features of our sheet metal services. If you have sheet metal fabrication needs, please contact us.

How SANON Sheet Metal Fabrication Works

sheet metal fabrication drawing
Check Drawings

Why is our first step to confirm the drawings?  Because in our cooperation with many customers, we found that some customers’ engineers may not fully understand the sheet metal fabrication process, so the drawings may have some detailed problems.  So we will check the drawings again with the customer to confirm the finished product size, material selection, delivery time and other requirements.

Plasma Cutting
Cutting

The main cutting methods include mechanical cutting, laser cutting, water jet cutting, plasma cutting, shearing machine, punching and mold blanking.  Mechanical cutting is the common way at present, laser cutting is mostly used in the proofing stage, and mold blanking is mostly used for large quantity processing.

sheet metal bending
Forming

It mainly includes bending and stretching. We use bending machine to bend the material. According to the drawing requirements, we will choose the appropriate bending tooling. If the general bending tooling does not meet our requirements, we may need to make special bending tooling. The stretching of sheet metal is mainly done by CNC or general punching, which requires various stretching punches or dies.

Sheet Metal Welding
Joining/Assembling

After the metal sheets are machined into the desired shape, they still need to be joined together. This process includes welding and riveting. Welding can be dangerous and must be done by experienced workers or by using a robot.

surface treatment
Surface Treatment

This is the last sheet metal fabrication process before shipment, mainly for surface treatment of parts according to customer’s drawing requirements. This can make the sheet metal parts anti-corrosion and more beautiful. Common surface treatment methods include powder coating, electro-galvanizing, hot-dip galvanizing, polishing, anodizing, surface brushing, etc.

Inspection
Inspection and Shipment

The inspection of the finished product is always a very important part of our focus. We perform final measurements and inspections on all parts. The dimensions are measured to ensure complete accuracy. The appearance quality is inspected to ensure that there are no surface quality issues and that it is fully meet customer requirements.
